In Support of Hawaii Fire Fighters

In Hawaii, there are two Foundations associated with HFFA:

  • Honolulu Firefighters Foundation (HFF) – The Foundation and originator of the annual Signature Chefs Food Festival, supports members of the Honolulu Fire Department and the department’s historical legacy, and the Straub Burn Unit’s efforts to provide burn patients in the Pacific with lifesaving care and treatment.

  • Hawaiian Islands Firefighter Foundation (HIFF) – Statewide Foundation that envisions a Hawaii where firefighters are united in purpose, professionally empowered, and supported through every challenge. HIFF aspires to honor the service of Hawaii’s firefighters, to build resilient communities through education and prevention, and to ensure that no firefighter or family faces hardship alone.

National Fallen Firefighters Memorial

May 2-3, 2026
Emmitsburg, Maryland

A contingent of Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) uniformed members attended the NFFF Memorial Weekend to honor Fire Fighter (FF) I Jeffery Fiala and the 203 fallen firefighters from 2025 and previous years.

Each year, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation carries out a responsibility entrusted to it by Congress: to honor America’s fallen firefighters at the national level and to stand with the families they leave behind.

Cancer Awareness is year round

Fire fighter occupational cancer is the leading cause of line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. In 2025, nearly 80% of IAFF members honored at the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial in September 2025 died of occupational cancer. Of the IAFF member line-of-duty deaths, 247 out of 311 were due to occupational cancer
