Annual Fundraiser Supports Firefighters, HFD and the Community

Aloha Oahu members,

The Honolulu Firefighter Foundation (HFF) is holding its 10th Annual Signature Chef’s Event this Saturday, September 14, 2019 at the HFD Fire Headquarters Building and we are looking for firefighter support.

The HFF’s annual fundraiser supports all of the HFF’s project/programs listed below and more. Our Board of Directors is made up of prominent Business and community leaders, utilizing and giving their talents and resources to support the HFD, our firefighters and our community.

The HFF is looking for volunteer help for the Saturday event beginning at 0900 hrs. to assist with general set up of tables and chairs, chef station booths, signage, decorations, etc. and for assistance throughout the event for parking lot monitors, event runners for ice to the individual chef booths, monitor trash and general assistance through clean-up and breakdown (tables and chairs) at the end of the event (2100 hrs.).

We welcome and encourage ALL FIREFIGHTERS, chief officers included, active and retired members, to consider being a part of this event, either by volunteering or attending. Tickets are discounted for firefighters and their families.

Supporters of this event, whether guest participants, chefs, vendors, donors or sponsors do so out of support for HFD and our firefighters. Get involved and help us showcase the HFD to all those that support us!

Saturday, September 14, 2019 – Volunteer Needs

NOTE: Parking is available for all volunteers at the State DAGS Lots located at the Kekuanaoa and Kapuaiwa Buildings at the corner of King and Punchbowl Streets (next to the Kamehameha Statue). Please do not park in restricted stalls. SEE MAP

0900-1200 (12-18 volunteers)

General Setup: Table and chairs, chefs stations, trash containers, signage, decorations, setup utensils for chef stations, etc.

1400-1700 (6-8 volunteers)

Receive Guest Chefs: Assist with their setup, assist setup beverage stations, general assistance

1500-2130 (10 volunteers)

Parking: Assist with monitoring and parking. *Parking volunteers will rotate in groups of two between assigned parking lot and the event every 1 to 1-1/2 hours.

1700-2100 (12-18 volunteers)

General Event Support: Service chef booths and beverage stations with ice and supplies, monitor guests and tables, address trash, general assistance for event and guests

2100-Pau (12-18 volunteers)

Breakdown/Clean-up Krew!

*** Meals will be provided for all volunteers. T-shirts will be provided for volunteers involved during the event hours. We request that those volunteers wear long pants and covered shoes (jeans and sneakers ok)

Purpose of the HFF:

  • Provide community service activities that strengthen their relationship with the HFD
  • Promote fire prevention and other public safety education programs
  • Support programs which enhance and provide HFD’s historic preservation
  • Provide recognition and charitable assistance to individuals who have dedicated their lives to the HFD
  • From its beginning, the HFF has partnered with members from IBEW 1186 to install thousands of smoke alarms in the homes of our Kupuna over the years. They have also supported the Straub Burn Center by funding advancements in burn treatment for a number of years.

HFD Financial Support and Resource

The HFF has provided annual financial support to the HFD for functions that are not funded through the City budget such as:

  • Thanksgiving Day Dinners for the fire stations and all on-duty worksites including Bureaus, FCC, etc.
  • Refreshments for fire station dedications, apparatus blessings
  • FF Recruit graduation luncheon expenses
  • Honolulu Fire Museum expenses
  • HFD Family Day, Relay for Life, Volleyball Tournaments, HFD Blood Bank of Hawaii Blood Drives, and more.
