Community Programs
HFFA supports and encourages its members to participate in community activities. In addition to direct contributions to organizations such as the Adult Friends for Youth, Hawaii Public Television, Hawaii Humane Society, Salvation Army and others, HFFA members proudly support other worthy activities such as:
Ready to Learn School Tools Campaign
For the past three years, HFFA has co-sponsored the "Ready to Learn" Campaign. This campaign collects donated school supplies to be distributed to needy students throughout the state. Last year, over 25,000 students received the necessary school tools. All fire stations were designated as drop off sites and our members are pleased to be able to be part of this program.
HFFA/MDA "Fill the Boot" Campaign
A large number of HFFA members volunteer for this annual fund raising event for Jerry's kids. In concert with the MDA Labor Day telethon, HFFA members go into the community and collect donations by passing their own "fire fighter's boot" and asking them to fill it with contributions. Last year alone, HFFA efforts resulted in donations in excess of $50,000.
